Rivian Adventure in Yosemite: Fall Itinerary Ideas

With the air turning crisp and the trees shedding their leaves, it's time for a Rivian fall adventure. Yosemite would be a great place to visit in the fall before the harsh winter weather comes.

Rivian's Charging Outpost near Yosemite National Park's west entrance would be a great place to start your visit. The charging outpost is located in Groveland, between 35-45 minutes from Yosemite's Big Oak Flat Entrance or over an hour from Arch Rock Entrance.

Rivian's Charging Outpost differs from the company's other charging stations because it focuses on recharging travelers during their adventures. The outpost in Groveland, which is a small mountain community, welcomes travelers with some coffee, a few available snacks for purchase, and a warm welcome from the people in town.

"We wanted to add to that experience of having a place where they hang out, relax, get a cup of coffee that we provide from a local coffee shop here, or have some snacks, and then just also share this town," said Bran Niedans, Rivian's Manager for all new Charging Outposts.

The town where Rivian's Charging Outpost is located offers accommodations, like the Hotel Charlotte or All Seasons Groveland Inn. The town also has some restaurants for travelers looking for a heartier meal, such as the Pizza Factory and Iron Door Saloon.

Yosemite's Arch Rock Entrance & Fees

The Arch Rock Entrance comprises two house-sized boulders, which visitors pass through to enter Yosemite National Park. It is a great way to enter Yosemite and start your journey.

Sights to See After the Arch Rock Entrance

About 20 minutes after passing, Yosemite's Arch Rock Entrance is Cascades Picnic Area, which many visitors say is the best place to have lunch. While eating, you may look out to the flowing river near the picnic area and maybe catch a glimpse of a wild animal or two.

After lunch at the Cascades Picnic Area on El Portal Road, turn onto Big Oak Flat Road to visit Yosemite Valley Vista Point. It promises breathtaking panoramic views. First-time visitors should stop by Yosemite Valley Vista Point as they make their way through the national park. It is a great way to set the tone of your visit.

If you return to Big Oak Flat Road and drive past El Portal Road, you'll hit Southside Drive. Southside Drive will lead you to Bridalveil Fall, a 620-foot waterfall. There is a paved trail that leads closer to Bridalveil Fall that is suitable for all ages and abilities. Most guides recommend passing through the trial in the spring. Nevertheless, the waterfall is still a sight to behold in the fall. The park also built a public restroom near Bridalveil Falls Trailhead.

From Southside Drive, turn onto Wawona Road, then head to Tunnel View and Artist Point Trail. These stops offer more inspiring views. It isn't called Artist Point for no reason. Past visitors recommend skipping Tunnel View to avoid the crowds. To make the most out of the view, take the Artist Point Trail.

Wawona Road leads to several other popular Yosemite stops, including Grouse Creek Falls, the Alter Creek Trailhead (North), and the must-see Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. According to Mariposa County, visitors may ride horseback after visiting the giant sequoias.

After Mariposa Grove, further down Wawona Road, Yosemite visitors will pass by a number of hotels, inns, and other accommodations. You'll need plenty of rest and sustenance to the remainder of your stay at Yosemite.
