Rivian Travel Kitchen Officially Launches, Immediately Gets Some Love From EV Fans
Rivian has officially launched its Travel Kitchen, a $1,400 double burner induction cooktop, food prep surface, and storage space that’s designed specifically for the R1T and R1S. The Travel Kitchen immediately found support among members of the Rivian community, despite its premium price.
Rivian notes that the Travel Kitchen’s two induction burners feature adjustable heat levels and an output of up to 1500W. They also work with induction cookware like cast iron and magnetic stainless steel. The Travel Kitchen’s meal prep area features a slide-out drawer for loose items. It even includes a cutting board made from recycled paper and wood pulp.
The Travel Kitchen comes with a padded storage bad with shoulder strap, so it would be easy to carry, as well as magnetized dimmable hangout lights. Rivian also noted that while the Travel Kitchen is designed for the R1T and R1S, it is designed even for vehicles beyond the R1 series. In fact, the Travel Kitchen just requires a flat surface to work, so any vehicle with a 120V outlet would work.
Rivian notes that the Travel Kitchen comes with a two-year warranty from its date of delivery. Customers could be eligible for a refund if the Travel Kitchen is returned within 90 days of receipt in the condition that it was received. While the Travel Kitchen is a rather simple solution compared to the R1T’s dedicated Camp Kitchen — which features a full kitchen that is stored in the all-electric pickup truck’s Gear Tunnel — it is significantly more affordable at $1,400. The R1T’s Camp Kitchen was speculated to be priced at around $6,750 had it actually been released.
