Rivian R3 wins Top Gear's Best Car Design of the Year award for 2024
The Rivian R3 may not enter production for a few more years, but it can still capture the praise of noted automotive outlets. This was certainly the case recently, as the Rivian R3 was presented with the “Design of the Year” award by noted automotive outlet Top Gear.
Top Gear highlighted the Rivian R3’s stunning looks in its 2024 Car of the Year 2024 awards, stating that “Here was the R3, and you couldn't take your eyes off it - a compact crossover mashing together just about every body style and era you can imagine.”
The Rivian R3 was unveiled by the electric truck maker back in March as an even smaller and more affordable sibling to the Rivian R2, which is expected to be the mainstream and more affordable sibling to the existing Rivian R1T and R1S. The R3 immediately caught the eye of auto enthusiasts, thanks to its classic lines that invoked legendary vehicles like the Lancia Delta Integrale.

Rivian celebrated the R3’s award in a post on its official account on social media platform X. The electric vehicle maker thanked its employees and supporters for the award. “A huge thank you to our incredible team, and supporters who made this achievement possible. Here’s to pushing design and driving towards a greener, more exciting electric future!” Rivian wrote in its post.
While details surrounding the Rivian R3 remain scarce, the information that has been shared about the upcoming vehicle is very exciting. During its unveiling back in March, for example, Rivian noted that the R3 and its larger sibling, the R2, will be built with a structural battery pack with 4695 cells. The R3 will also be produced with a native NACS port, allowing it to seamlessly access Tesla’s expansive Supercharger Network.
