Rivian promotes Renewable Energy Matching Program
With Q4 2024 entering its final weeks, Rivian has announced a new incentive for customers of the Gen 2 R1T and R1S. As per the electric truck maker, it would be matching up to 10,000 miles of customers’ driving with 100% renewable energy—provided that they take delivery of their R1T of R1S by the end of the year.
Rivian described the program in a post on its official account on X. “If you take delivery of an R1T or R1S by the end of the year, we’ll match up to 10,000 miles of driving with 100% renewable energy. That means every time you charge, you’re helping support high impact renewable energy projects in the United States like the Champion Wind Farm in Texas,” Rivian wrote in its post.
The Champion Wind Farm in Texas is a 16-year-old installation farm that is expected to be upgraded by with state-of-the-art components. The wind farm’s old components are being repurposed, paving the way for a more circular economy. As noted by the electric truck maker in a Rivian Stories post, the project is expected to help enable a cleaner grid starting 2025.

Rivian also highlighted that its renewable energy program has been built with drivers in mind. As explained by the company:
“Rivian has built its renewable energy program with drivers in mind, ensuring our entire community is actively building the carbon-free grid of tomorrow with every drive. Through the matching program, new Rivian owners have powered over 80 million miles of driving with 100% renewable energy — that's the equivalent of saving over 180,000 gallons of gas,” Rivian wrote.
