Rivian Informs Owners of New Batch of NACS Adapter Shipments
Rivian is shipping a new batch of North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters to R1T and R1S owners. The adapters enable Rivian’s electric vehicles to charge at Tesla Superchargers, the most expansive rapid-charging network in North America.
Posts about the new batch of NACS chargers were shared on the r/Rivian subreddit by several users, with some sharing a screenshot of the message that was sent by the automaker. As per several Rivian owners on the subreddit, they received a confirmation message from the company after they provided a preferred mailing address for their NACS adapter.
“Thank you for your address. We’ll get to work on delivering your complimentary NACS DC adapter in the coming weeks!” Rivian’s message read.
Based on comments from fellow Rivian users on the r/Rivian subreddit, it appears that several owners with vehicles in the VIN 3XXX to VIN 8XXX range received a message about their upcoming complimentary NACS adapter this time around. Some users who noted that their vehicles have a VIN in the 9XXX range have claimed that they have not received a message about their NACS adapter yet.
Such observations incited some humorous comments from Rivian owners whose vehicles are in the VIN 13XXX range, with some stating that they should probably expect their complimentary NACS adapter to come sometime next year.
That being said, observations from Rivian owners have suggested that the release of the NACS adapter is based more on the vehicles’ delivery date instead of their VIN, so perhaps some owners may relieve their NACS adapters sooner than expected. This would be quite a pleasant and welcome surprise considering the expansion of the Tesla Supercharger Network.
Tesla currently operates over 15,000 NACS-compatible Superchargers across North America. That’s a good number of rapid, reliable chargers that could very well be game-changing during long trips. Rivian has previously also noted that starting in 2026, all new Rivian vehicles would be shipped with a NACS port by default.
