Rivian launches Live Activities for iPhone app

Rivian launched Live Activities for iPhone users in its recent over-the-air (OTA) update.

Rivian's Version 2.7.0 update allows iPhone users to keep track of their charging times through their lock screen or Dynamic Island. The Live Activities feature works with iOS 16 on iPhone 14 and 15 Pro models.

The feature may not be new for other electric vehicles, like Tesla, but it is for Rivian's R1 lineup. Live Activities is expected to come in handy feature for Rivian R1 owners who like to eat or do other activities while waiting for their vehicles to charge.

Update 2.7.0 also recently rolled out to Rivian drivers. Most features introduced in the update make checking a Rivian EV's charging progress easier. Below is the list of new features in the latest Rivian OTA update, according to the release notes.

In an earlier OTA update, Rivian prepared R1 owners for Tesla Superchargers. Thanks to the update, Rivian R1 owners can see Supercharger Network locations with Magic Docks in their in-car navigation.

"Your vehicle now shows select Tesla Supercharger locations with a Magic Dock in the Navigation app's charger filters. A Magic Dock allows you to charge your Rivian at select Tesla Supercharger locations. These locations also show in the Rivian mobile app version 1.12 or later. To charge at a Tesla Supercharger, you need to download the Tesla app," said the update.
