Rivian now including NACS adapter with every Gen 2 R1 purchase
Recent observations from the electric vehicle community have revealed that Rivian is now listing a free NACS DC adapter in every order of a 2025 model year Gen 2 R1T or R1S. The addition of the free accessory could be seen on Rivian's official website.
As can be seen in the vehicle configurator of the Gen 2 R1T and R1S, a "NACS DC adapter" is listed as "included" in the vehicles' options. The update was met with much appreciation from the Rivian community, especially since the accessory is a requirement to access Tesla's expansive and reliable NACS-compatible Supercharger Network.
That being said, some EV community members on social media expressed some concerns about the immediate availability of NACS DC adapters. After all, the accessory, while a line item in the vehicles' order page, may simply be sent to owners after they take delivery of their Gen 2 R1 vehicles. Others also wondered when Rivian would start equipping its R1 vehicles with a native NACS port.
While the sentiments of Rivian community members are understandable, it's hard not to give credit to the electric truck maker for including a NACS DC adapter in every Gen 2 R1 vehicle purchase. Rivian, after all, actually provides the NACS adapters completely free of charge, unlike General Motors, which charges its EV owners an additional $225 for an approved NACS DC adapter.
