Rivian exec teases YouTube running in R1 vehicle

Back in May, Rivian announced in a post on social media that it was partnering with Google to bring Google Cast and YouTube integration for the R1T and R1S. A recent post from one of the company’s executives suggests that the highly-anticipated feature is almost ready for wide release. 

Rivian owners have made it clear that they are eagerly awaiting the release of of Google Cast and YouTube to their vehicles. Considering that the initial announcement for the feature was posted way back in May, this is understandable. It is also understandable why some R1T and R1S owners are feeling a bit impatient about the long wait for the function. 

While the wait for Google Cast and YouTube’s wide release for the R1T and R1S is still ongoing, Rivian Chief Software Officer Wassym Bensaid recently shared an image hinting that the feature is indeed being tested by the electric truck maker. The executive shared the image as a response to Out of Spec’s Kyle Conner, who was poking fun at the length of one of his videos that featured the R1T.

This is quite encouraging, as back in early October, Bensaid also noted in a post on X that Google Cast and YouTube are in their final stages of testing. Bensaid also noted then that Rivian wanted to get “the right quality bar before we launch so that all our users enjoy a seamless and immersive audio/video experience."
