Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe posts reminder about what's most important in the EV revolution

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe recently posted a quick reminder highlighting what is really important in the electric vehicle transition. As noted by the executive, the sustainability movement is an opportunity for humanity to come together as a society to make a meaningful change for its children's future. 

In the video, which was posted on the CEO’s personal X account, Scaringe stated that he loved cars a lot ever since he was young. However, it became clear to him as he grew older that the vehicles that he loved so much were contributing to the decarbonization of the atmosphere. Unfortunately, this recarbonization has only ramped over time. 

“Our society, in just a few generations, has taken what accumulated over hundreds of millions of years and reinserted that CO2 back into the atmosphere by burning these fossil fuels in just over 150 years,” Scaringe said.

The CEO highlighted that the changes to the climate are actually just starting, but as things stand, things can easily get worse. It is then quite fortunate that humanity is at a point right now when it has the opportunity to make a lasting difference. 

Adopting sustainable technologies, regardless of how imperfect they may be, is a key difference maker in the battle to save the planet, the CEO argued. This is the case with electric vehicles like Rivian’s R1T and R1S. As the grid gets cleaner, so does the all-electric trucks. 

“We need to protect our only home to ensure that the first of such a diverse and such a beautiful planet that’s so unique is maintained. It’s a world that we can continue to explore and continue to enjoy for generations to come—for our kids and for their kids’ kids’ kids.
