Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) Openings Are Ramping

A look at Rivian’s updates on its official social media handles shows something particularly interesting — the Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) is being ramped up at an incredible pace. Coupled with Rivian’s NACS support, the R1T and R1S are starting to become two of the most supported premium all-electric vehicles in the market today. 

Rivian’s official website notes that it is working to install over 3,500 DC fast chargers at approximately 600 sites across the United States and Canada. Similar to Tesla Superchargers, which have become the most reliable fast-charging network in North America, the Rivian Adventure Network is designed for maximum reliability, thanks to its remote diagnostics and capability to receive over-the-air software updates.

As can be seen in Rivian’s official account on social media platform X, RAN sites are opening up across the United States in a quick manner. In the past few weeks alone, Rivian announced the opening of RAN sites in Moosic, PA, Freeport, ME, Kittery, ME, and Burley, ID. Of course, Rivian also opened its Yosemite Charging Outpost this month, which the company notes is not only for recharging vehicles, but recharging drivers and passengers as well. 

In true Rivian fashion, its new RAN sites are typically located in areas that promote the spirit of adventure. The Moosic site, for one, is close to the Susquehanna River, while the RAN sites in Kittery and Burley have dedicated stalls for drivers who are towing trailers. This highlights Rivian’s commitment to its owners, as well as the company’s efforts to follow its mission of creating the best adventure vehicles on the market. 

The Rivian Adventure Network is still in its infancy, and it is still nowhere close to its target number of sites across the United States and Canada. It would not be surprising at all if it takes years for Rivian to establish 600 rapid charging sites across the US and Canada. But considering Rivian’s apparent ramp in RAN installations, it would not be surprising if a good number of the company’s 600-site target will be completed by the time the Rivian R2 starts its customer deliveries.
